The Gulbadan Midnight — Hand Suzani Embroidered Velvet Jacket

One Size - S/M

In the walled gardens of old Rajasthan, the pomegranate was never just a fruit — it was a wish for abundance, stitched into dowry textiles and passed hand to hand. This cape draws from that same lineage, its deep rust velvet grounding a garden of powder-blue anar and sunflowers that seem to bloom straight out of the fabric. Rows of plump pomegranates, each one crowned and textured with dense chain-stitch fill, march down the sleeves and body in soft slate blue — a color reminiscent of old indigo-washed suzanis from the Central Asian trade routes that once passed through Rajasthan's port cities. Radiating sunflowers with tall stems break the rhythm at the chest and back, their petals fanned out in the same wool-toned blue. The stand collar carries a continuous wave-and-vine border, finished at the throat with a single button, revealing a candy-striped red and cream lining beneath. Cut in a relaxed, cape-like silhouette with dropped shoulders and wide sleeves, this jacket is built to be thrown over everything — a kurta, a slip dress, plain denim. The velvet holds warmth without weight, and no two embroidered panels lay down their stitches in quite the same way, so what arrives at your door is entirely your own.
